Meet the speakers
Dr. Nic Pillow
Nic is an entrepreneur and leader in B2B technology. He co-founded his own startup, Rhizome Live, a Software-as-a-Service business in the Education Tech sector. He raised £400k and gained access to a top accelerator.
Prior to that he led a global team at Nokia which exercised portfolio control over 15 of their software products that grew in annual revenue from £50 to £250 million. Previously Nic held roles including Product Manager at Logica and Solution Architect at Portal Software.
Nic holds a first-class degree in Engineering & Computing from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. in Computer Vision from the Robotics Research Group at the University of Oxford.
Tim Wynn-Jones
Tim's background ranges from solar and onshore wind farm financing and development to corporate energy supply agreements and the deployment of low carbon technologies across homes and businesses.
Tim holds an MSc in Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility and has previously held senior roles across business and product development for a major UK utility, managing a department of 55 FTE and contracted revenues of more than £160m.
Immediately prior to joining Blackfinch, Tim founded his own consultancy business advising investors, energy companies and businesses across the energy transition. Through this consultancy he supported both Blackfinch’s Energy and Ventures teams, and he continues to serve on the investment committee for the listed IFSL Blackfinch NextGen Infrastructure Fund.
Dominique Butters
Dominique joined Blackfinch in October 2016, bringing over 27 years’ of financial services experience.
Dominique’s career began at Lloyds Bank in 1989, working as an adviser for ten years before moving to Towry Law as an independent financial adviser. She then spent five years at Clerical Medical specialising in Inheritance Tax planning and eight years at Octopus Investments. Dominique is well known and highly respected for her technical knowledge and openness in helping advisers work effectively with professional connections.
